Puzzles are definitely great for the mind
As simple as what you said sounds, it's very true. I read that children who engage in puzzles at young ages grow up to be much smarter than even those who play instruments or those whose mothers played Mozart while they are in the womb.
I have a lot of nieces and nephews and for christmas I always give them puzzles -- anything for the kids! I just found this site where you can make your own custom puzzles. http://www.calyptic.com/
I wonder if the kids will love putting themselves together.
